The International Association for Creating and Training (I-act) is a non profit organization founded in 2003 by the theater director and playwright Mahmoud Aboudoma. I-act works in the fields of Arts and Culture with a specific focus on theatre as a social and educational tool for development and freedom on expression. The geographical scope of I-act include countries of Europe and the Mediterranean region with a specific focus on youth and children .Until 2011, I-act organized 7 editions of the of the Creative Forum for Independent Theatre Groups, which is an annual international event that adopted an Anti-festival concept, encompassing diverse theatre performances, publication and dialogue programs in addition to training and capacity building workshops for local and International youth and Artists. After the Egyptian revolution, the Creative Forum has been substituted by 2 new festivals, the Reveil Festival and Back Street Festival. I-act has recently opened its new innovative and much needed art space ‘Teatro Eskenderia’ and will open new space in Cairo in October 2014.
